Grilled Harissa Shrimp Skewers

Summertime is all about the grill and the flava! You just can’t go wrong with the smoky flavor grilling adds to your favorite foods. These marinated grilled harissa shrimp skewers make up the definition of flavor town. They are a little smoky, a little spicy and all kinds of delicious.

Now, to start, we gotta make the star of the show; the marinade. This marinade is super simple and easy with just 5 ingredients. But, the flava honey, the flava!! The main ingredient for the marinade is harissa sauce of course. I’ve been loving homemade harissa sauce lately. It is surprisingly easy to make and I have a recipe in my NEW cookbook One Pot Keto Cooking for the BEST homemade harissa sauce. Click HERE to preorder your copy and never have to buy harissa again!

GRILLED HARISSA SHRIMP SKEWERS MARINADE:

But, if you would like to make these shrimp skewers right away, click HERE for the best store bought harissa you will find. A great substitution for harissa is chili paste or sambal oelek.

The rest of the ingredients are very simple and you probably already have them in your pantry:

  • Coconut aminos
  • lemon juice
  • olive oil
  • fresh mint

Now, when it comes to cooking the shrimp, as with a lot of seafood, you want to be very careful not to overcook it. No one likes overcooked shrimp so don’t do that to yourself.

HOW LONG TO COOK SHRIMP:

  • Grilling: cook over direct medium heat for about 3 minutes per side, turning once. Depending on the size of your shrimp, this process should take 5-7 minutes in total.
  • Pan Searing: Cook on the stovetop over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side, flipping once. Depending on the size of your shrimp, this process should take anywhere from 4-6 minutes in total.
  • In the oven: I like a preheated oven at 400˚F for about 6-8 minutes.

  4. Remove the shrimp from the heat, brush the remaining untouched marinade over the shrimp and serve with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice along with a salad or seasoned cauliflower rice.

I can’t believe I’m the first comment for these shrimp!!! Please make them! So easy and flavorful!!! It was too cold and windy to grill so I just did them on a griddle without skewers. Will grill next time, I bet they’d be even better!!! Thanks for the recipe!!!
