Easy plant-based Mexican Street Tacos

This post is sponsored by OZO. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I strive to always work with and introduce you to brands that I love and use personally or brands that are making it a point to better our lives through their products and their mission. Thank you for your continued support of Clean Foodie Cravings.

Although I don’t follow a completely plant-based diet, I’ve always believed balance is the key to any positive change in our lives. With OZO Plant-Based Protein products, we can enjoy more plant-forward meals like these plant-based Mexican street tacos.

OZO wants to make eating plants approachable by focusing on a more flexitarian lifestyle. The term “flexitarian” simply means you eat more plants but you also dabble in eating meat or fish. Basically, you don’t discriminate and you enjoy being an equal opportunity employer of all things delicious. But with a focus on eating more plants.

OZO is a plant-based protein brand that delivers taste, clean ingredients and superior nutritional advantage for the whole fam. OZO’s products are soy-free, and non-GMO. They also offer a wide variety of products including:

  • plant-based fresh burger patties
  • Plant based fresh meatballs
  • Their Plant based fresh sausage patties are bomb
  • Plant based fresh Mexican-Seasoned ground (what we are using today to make our tacos)
  • Frozen smokehouse burgers and so much more!

Now OZO is coining this week, July 26-30th, as National Flexitarian week! A week to celebrate and talk about the delicious and healthy benefits of eating more veggies! And with all of OZO’s plant-based fresh and frozen products, you can add more spice to your flex life!

To serve your tacos, there is no one-size fits all here. You can have a lot of fun making it your own. I chose to go with tomatoes, jalapeños, avocado crema, cilantro, fresh lime juice and some hot salsa.

But, maybe tomatoes are not apart of your journey, so you can omit the tomatoes and serve your tacos with Watermelon Salsa. Just have fun and enjoy your plant-forward meal!

  • 2
    small ripe tomatoes
  • 1
    jalapeño pepper
  • 8
large butter lettuce leaves, or tortillas
  • 1
    avocado, peeled and pitted
  • 2
tbsp freshly chopped cilantro leaves, plus more to garnish
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • Juice of ½ a lime + lime wedges to garnish
  • 1
    clove garlic
  • 1
  • 1
    12-ounce package OZO™ plant-based Mexican-seasoned Ground

  1. To begin, dice the tomatoes, remove the seeds from the jalapeño pepper and slice it thinly, then set those aside. Thoroughly wash the butter lettuce leaves and set them aside to dry. If you’re using tortillas, wrap them up in foil and put them in the oven at 250°F until you’re ready to serve.
  2. Now, add the avocado, 2 tablespoons of cilantro, sour cream, juice of ½ a lime and garlic clove to a food processor or blender. Pulse/blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Transfer the avocado cream to a jar or bowl with an airtight lid and store in the fridge until ready to serve.
  3. Now, add the avocado oil to a hot skillet and add the OZO™ plant-based Mexican-seasoned ground to the pan. Cook the seasoned ground, breaking it up with your spatula/spoon as it cooks, until it’s brown with crispy edges and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the seasoned ground from the heat and assemble the tacos.
  4. To assemble the tacos, put a couple tablespoons of the Mexican seasoned ground on the bottom of each lettuce cup or tortilla, then top with diced tomatoes, avocado crema, a couple slices of jalapeño pepper and fresh cilantro. Serve with lime wedges.
